Belle Epoque gilded table lamp
Art Nouveau table lamp in brass and porcelain, pagoda shade - Lucien Gau - Table lamps
Charming Art Nouveau table lamp with a white porcelain cherub that stands out against the gilded bronze of the structure and seems to try to enchant you with its lyre and small porcelain flowers. The model is made up of a magnificent pagoda lampshade in laminated ivory fabric with golden lace and white fringes, which crowns a foot representing a stem topped by its flower, which blooms in the shade of the lampshade and is traversed by a fine liana from which come delicate porcelain flowers and their precisely chiselled brass leaves, one blue and the other yellow. As if framed by the flowers, a white cherub with a lyre sits on the round golden base of the lamp, his eyes closed and his hand resting on the instrument. The collection is a perfect embodiment of the romantic aesthetic, with its lush Art Nouveau vegetation, which can be found, for example, on some of the historic arcades of the Paris metro.
As the heir to a Parisian bronze workshop that has been in business since the 19th century, Lucien Gau demonstrates year after year his exceptional craftsmanship, built up and handed down from generation to generation, in the restoration, conservation and reproduction of lighting fixtures using techniques faithful to the period in which they originated.
