Art Nouveau table lamp
Table lamp in patinated bronze and pink glass paste, underwater inspiration - Lucien Gau - Table lamps
Halfway between a strange exotic plant and an underwater creature reminiscent of a jellyfish, this magnificent Art Nouveau table lamp is made of bronze and pink glass paste. The model is composed of a cast bronze base representing the leaves of a water lily, on top of which stands a foot full of scrolls that emphasise the underwater inspiration and evoke the feeling of floating on water, decorated with small closed buds. The base is crowned by a beautiful mushroom-shaped shade in pink striped glass paste, held in place by four discreet arms that support the shade. Note the verdigris finish of the bronze, which gives the model an authentic patina. The collection perfectly embodies the romantic aesthetics of Art Nouveau, with its lush vegetation that can be found, for example, on some of the historic arcades of the Paris metro.
Heir to a Parisian bronze workshop that dates back to the 19th century, year after year Lucien Gau continues to demonstrate his exceptional craftsmanship, passed down from generation to generation, in the restoration, conservation and reproduction of lighting fixtures using techniques faithful to the period in which they were created.
Dimensions: 43cm high, 33cm diameter.
The light source is provided by 2 E14 halogen or LED bulbs, to be purchased separately.
