Directoire style solid bronze wall lamp, on the theme of the Torch
Bright gold wall lamp, inclined torch, fluted body, worked basin - Lucien Gau - Wall lights
This solid bronze wall lamp in the Directoire style features a slanting torch as a revolutionary emblem, as was popular in the period immediately following the Revolution: 1795-1799. Its shiny gold finish gives it strength and presence. The fluting of the body and the leaf decoration of the wall cabochon and the end of the foot are reminiscent of the Louis XVI style that preceded it. The bowl has the shape of a beautifully worked cup and is finished with circles whose brilliance alternates with the work of the stripes. The realisation of this wall lamp is exceptional. Its entirely handcrafted finish is the result of the skill and know-how of the craftsmen of the Maison Lucien Gau, the goldsmith of the region.
Dimensions: Height: 53 cm, width: 10 cm, projection: 26 cm.
