Directoire style gilded chandelier with bohemian crystal beads eight lights, by Lucien Gau

This thin and very elegant Directoire style chandelier is decorated with many elements of Bohemian crystal carved pearl. On the central part structured by a thin gilded bronze disc, 8 rounded arms support a design of striking elegance. Each arm is decorated with an ornamental acanthus leaf motif. The basins (cups at the base of the candlesticks) are decorated with a pearl pattern of great finesse. At the lower end, the central part is extended by a delicately fluted ogival element. The upper part of this chandelier is decorated with acanthus leaves. The workmanship, admirable, is entirely handcrafted by the manufacturer's artisans. The solid bronze is sand-cast and worked and finished using the most traditional techniques. The golden patina is applied by hand.
