Chandelier balloon Louis XVI bohemian crystal and gilt bronze forty lights, by Lucien Gau

This spectacular Louis XVI style Bohemian crystal balloon chandelier is composed of three parts. The solid bronze, old gold patinated and decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, supports 24 spiral arms decorated with rolled leaf motifs. For each lamp, the bobèche and the bowl are discreetly fluted. The upper part of this chandelier is made up of a masterly octagonal octagonal chandelier with Bohemian crystal pendants, mounted on steel wire and ending in the upper part with two superimposed discs in gilded patinated bronze, separated by another curtain of tassels and surmounted by several arms decorated with rhomboid cut crystals. The lower part of the chandelier is made up of a double hemisphere covered with tassels and decorated at the bottom with a small bush of rhomboid-cut crystals. 16 bulbs in the centre provide additional light and make the crystals sparkle in this magnificent light. The set is made of solid bronze, cast in sand, worked and finished by hand by craftsmen in the manufacturer's French workshops. The bronze is given an antique gold patina, also applied by hand.
