Bohemian crystal gold Louis XVI chandelier shape cage thirty lights
Bohemian crystal and patinated solid bronze old gold chandelier - Lucien Gau - Chandeliers
This Louis XVI chandelier in patinated bronze, old gold and Bohemian crystal is in the form of a slender cage, the elements of which hide behind the abundance of ornamentation with which it is adorned. Six unadorned meridian arms extend from the lower central part of this chandelier to join the pendant. Thirty arms, also unadorned, emerge from the same central section in the form of volutes and support as many candlesticks at their ends. The shape of six of these arms is such that the corresponding candlesticks are placed inside the cage to enhance the flicker of the many crystals. The petal-shaped bowls (cups at the base of the candlesticks) are deliberately reduced to their simplest decorative expression. They are covered by a large number of tassels carved in oak leaves. The central part is also occupied by a very superimposed superimposition of crystal balls, underlined by some bronze elements. Finally, the top of this exceptional chandelier is dominated by several pieces of crystal cut into leaf-mounted palmettes, another recurring element of the Louis XVI style. All metal parts are made of solid bronze, sand cast and old gold patinated. It is entirely made in France. Only the most traditional methods are used to ensure an unparalleled quality of finish. There are two similar chandeliers with 15 and 20 lights, see reference 12020187.
