Art Nouveau desk lamp in gilt bronze and green glass - Lucien Gau - Desk lamps

A very elegant banker's desk lamp from the Art Nouveau collection, with a green glass shade and gilded metal, reminiscent of an American library lamp. The model consists of a cast bronze shoe tree base with a beautifully patinated gold finish, decorated with floral motifs and fitted with a gold lever switch. The base of the lamp is fixed to the inside of the heel of the base by means of a ball-and-socket joint which allows the angle of the lamp to be adjusted, and is surmounted by a half-cylinder shade which pivots on a horizontal axis to direct the light.
Lucien Gau is the heir to a Parisian bronze workshop that has been in business since the 19th century. Year after year, he demonstrates his exceptional craftsmanship, which has been passed down from generation to generation, by restoring, conserving and reproducing lamps using techniques that are faithful to the period in which they were created.
