Solid bronze lamp Louis XVI style, two lights, with oval lampshade painted in green
Solid bronze lamp, old gold finish, two arms in double volute carrying lights - Lucien Gau - Table lamps
Made of solid bronze in the style of Louis XVI, this lamp with two lights is characterised by its oval lampshade painted green, the quality of its decoration and the bowl in which its foot rests. The old gold finish of the bronze gives relief to the decoration. The base of the lamp rises from the bowl and is decorated with a necklace of fine pearls, leaves and luminous circles. The body begins with a detail of ascending leaves and continues with a section that supports a new cup from which arms emerge in double volutes carrying lights. These highlighted arms, some of which are decorated with foliage, benefit from a bronze treatment that gives them a remarkable lustre. The bowls are carved with floral motifs and carry candles. The lampshade slides on a finely worked stem of a bud to adjust its height, in reference to the old models with candles whose size was reduced as they burned. This lamp also exists in a version with three lights, see reference 16060080.
