Restoration style gilded chandelier 6 lights
Bronze chandelier with old gold finish and cut crystal - Lucien Gau - Chandeliers
Superb 6-light chandelier from the Restauration collection, which reproduces with great precision and fidelity the gilding, cherubs, cut crystal and chased bronze, the hallmarks of the sumptuous aesthetics of this early 19th century period. The model consists of a candleholder structure in bronze with an antique gold patina. The malleability of this metal allows the necessary precision to be achieved in the decoration of the cherubs, each of which holds two candles like large torches, making a total of six. Note the delicate foliage on the candlesticks, suspended from three gilded chains with diamond-shaped links, or the leaves on the sculpted cylinder to which the chains are attached, and finally the pointed bell, sculpted with fine vertical grooves. The most eye-catching element is the cut crystal ball at the centre of the chandelier, surrounded by a golden ring decorated with golden mouldings, and finally the seed, which completes the decoration of the crystal ball. The glass sphere is also fitted with a light.
As the heir to a Parisian bronze workshop that has been in business since the 19th century, Lucien Gau demonstrates year after year the exceptional craftsmanship that has been built up and handed down from generation to generation in the restoration, conservation and reproduction of lamps using techniques that are faithful to the period in which they were created.
