Louis XV chandelier with bohemian crystal and 6 lights, by Lucien Gau

This magnificent Louis XV chandelier in Bohemian crystal and solid bronze with an old gold patina is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, with an exceptional balance of forms. Six double spiral arms, beautifully carved and decorated with folded acanthus leaf motifs, diverge from a lower central part (the base) worked in acanthus leaves and straight grooves. These branches, in a delightful movement, support at their ends as many candlesticks. The basins (cups at the base of the candlesticks) are also finely worked. The base is extended by a central element carved in amphora and also decorated with ornamental motifs in acanthus leaves. At the top, this element supports several tassels in Bohemian crystal, cut into leaves and rosettes. The lower part of this chandelier is also decorated with many crystal pendants. A faceted ball at the lower end of this chandelier completes this magnificent ensemble. This model is also available in an 8-light version, please see the ordering options below.
