Large amber glass ceiling light Sole 55cm

Fascinating play of refraction with this Venetian-style golden ceiling light, the Sole 55cm model in blown amber Baloton glass and its stainless steel spiral structure. Sole consists of a stainless steel cage forming regular spirals into which the glass is blown using the Baloton crystal technique. This unique process, emblematic of the art of Murano glassmaking, involves blowing hot glass directly into a metal structure before it solidifies, creating the quilted effect of the glass and the rhomboid shapes on the outer surface. It is this particular process that gives the glass its semi-transparent texture and fluid feel, making each model unique with the slight variations that are the hallmark of craftsmanship. The result is a delicate shimmer of its own, tinged with gold from the amber finish of the glass.
Siru is a brilliant blend of art and craft, its fascinating lights evoking the splendour of a bygone Venice, handmade in the kiln using ancient Venetian techniques of blowing and colouring molten glass.
