Great originality for this wall lamp with the unusual drawing of a hand coming out of the wall holding a torch. The details are admirable, the symbolism is strong, as required by the tradition of the Directoire period, including revolutionary emblems. This sconce is made by sand casting, a unique technique which, because it is applied during the moulding process, guarantees the utmost precision in the details of the decoration. We can appreciate the perfection of the fingers and nails of the hand and the realism of its phalanges. The finishing touches are all done by hand, thanks to the skill of Lucien Gau's craftsmen, who have been passing on this exceptional know-how for six generations.
