Old gold Louis XIV two lights sconce
Sconce in solid bronze, fine carving, figure adorned with palmettes, streaks and pearls - Lucien Gau - Wall lights
This magnificent and exceptional Louis XIV sconce is made of solid bronze with an old gold patina. It has two scrolled arms connecting the central part, which is decorated with a female figure adorned with palmette leaves. The two scrolled arms are embossed and decorated with a chased pattern. At the base of the candlesticks, the bobeches are decorated with a pattern combining stripes and pearls. This wall lamp and the ornamental motifs that characterise it reveal all the talent of the craftsmen who designed it and ensure that it is manufactured using the most traditional methods. The solid bronze that makes it up is cast in a sand mould that is used only once. All the finishing touches, including the carving of the patterns, are done by hand. There is a matching nine-light chandelier, visible as 12020135.
